    Hans

  3. Thank you Vicky for your compliments. The purple fungus you write about is the Amathist fungus. Also known in the Netherlands as the Red Cabbage mushroom. This is because this is the color of a vegetable; the red cabbage.

The hairs on the mushroom (image 4) are called bud fungus and are a fungus on a fungus, i.e. a parasite. Very difficult to find, but very photogenic.

What bad luck that your Sony had to fall on a marble gravestone. Well, it is understandable that it did not survive the fall unscathed. It’s fortunate that a number of functions still work.

Finally, the enormous range of cameras and accessories. Yes, it’s crazy and my experience is that the camera you buy today has the latest features and is already outdated after a year. No, I am currently satisfied with the equipment I have now. I have had the Canon 5D M4 for many years now and it still works fine. I was already very satisfied with the Fuji, but after discovering that it has focus bracketing, it makes me even happier.

Greetings from the Netherlands and have a nice day, Hans

  4. Beautiful results, especially that extraordinary last shot with the purple funghi.

What are those little ‘hairs’ I can see on the funghi in the 4th image?

My Sony a6000 (now faulty due to a fall and crash over a marble tombstone 3 months after I bought it in 2015), still takes the most amazing images on the Intelligent Auto setting. It brackets at least 3 photos together and while it sometimes doesn’t work during the day since the accident, it still takes the most amazing sunset shots on the intelligent auto setting. I only found out by accident about this bracketing. It’s never been really good for bird photography though.

The Canon is far superior for getting one focal point through thick foliage to photograph birds.

There are so many camera/lense brands and models on the market these days, I imagine there’s a something for every type of user and subject matter. I was horrified at the prices when I looked this year. I had thought about replacing the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens I traded to buy the Sony ‘mirrorless’ gear in 2015.
